Sometimes, a conversation opens the door to bigger possibilities.
As Quickmart moves towards its NSE listing, we reflect on a Retail Trade Association of Kenya member engagement held at the Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC trading floor, in August 2023. This is arguably one of the triggers that contributed, even if in a small way, this monumental journey
The engagement introduced retailers to opportunities in the capital markets: equity financing, corporate bonds, pathways to listing, and the Ibuka programme to strengthen governance and investment readiness.
@Vivofashionhouse was a first adopter from that engagement, joining the NSE’s Ibuka programme. Quickmart Kenya Official journey adds another even more exciting chapter to retail’s participation in Kenya’s capital markets. A public issue to Kenyans, the first of its kind in this sector, from private ownership.
For the Association, this captures the value of being a member of a sector organisation, such as Retail Trade Association of Kenya for Retailers, whether Supermarkets, Speciality retailers or food, brings members into conversations that expand their horizons and connecting them to opportunities they can act on.
Congratulations to Quickmart Kenya Official. May this inspire more retailers to explore what is possible.
Capital raising does not have to be that of Private Equity, Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC Securities has options that fit the bill.
