Hair. Nails. Beauty. Personal care.
For many of us, these are part of everyday life. But behind every appointment is also a livelihood, a skill and, very often, a young Kenyan woman building a business.
To this end Retail Trade Association of Kenya was excited to be present at the Lintons Foundation and UNESCO launch of the Beauty Sector Workforce Readiness Pilot.
The beauty sector is one of the most accessible pathways into employment and entrepreneurship for young people, especially women. The opportunity now is to ensure that skills training translates into real work, sustainable businesses and dignified livelihoods.
This means stronger links between training and industry, practical apprenticeships, mentorship, digital and business skills, and clearer pathways to growth.
At RETRAK, we believe sectors like beauty demonstrate just how powerful retail and services can be in creating jobs and transforming communities. Investing in skills, leads to creating livelihoods, growing businesses and opening doors to economic independence.
